Guinea Pig’s Water Workout #43: Back in the Water

I have been inconsistent with my training in swimming lately. I went to practice with my swim team in New York this weekend for the first time in two months, and I nearly could not finish the sets. I have also been working on different stroke techniques for freestyle; therefore, my body is out of the sync during the transition period. My next biggest race, northeast regional championship, is at the end of March. I am determined to be ready within the next two months. Below is the workout on Saturday with my swim team.

Warm up:

  • 400 freestyle
  • 16 x 25: 8 sets of techniques, and 8 sets of freestyle with fins

Main sets:

  • 12 x 100: 4 sets under 2:15, 4 sets under 2:10:, and last 4 sets under 2:00
  • 200 kicks
  • 8 x 50 freestyle: start from the middle of the pool and work on turns
  • 4 x 25 any stroke, all out sprints
  • 4 x 50 freestyle, all out sprints
  • 4 x 25 freestyle, all out sprints
  • 1 x 25 any stroke, all out sprints with diving

Total distance (in yards): 3,025
